wise realist
1: liberation
  • wise, accepting, noble, kind, realistic
  • strong integrity and in balance with world
  • deep faith in universe unfolding as perfection
  • let go of forced goodness and self-image
  • let go of belief that anything can be judged objectively.
reasonable person
2: psychological capacity
  • reasonable, conscientious, and sensible
  • “i am sensible, moderate and objective”
  • emphasize reason, moderation, morality, and objectivity
  • reject indulgence, subjectivity, and self-interest
  • basic fear: being bad or corrupt
  • basic desire: to be good, have integrity, and be mentally balanced.
principled teacher
3: social value
  • relate to others primarily by being responsible and principled
  • feel that they have a mission in life, that there is no time for fooling around, and that being good means doing what is right
  • desire: to act according to conscience and reason
  • strategy: reinforce and demonstrate self-image through doing good things.

idealistic reformer
4: imbalance (social role)
  • feel intense personal obligation to do the right thing
  • striving, idealistic
  • strong desire to improve self and the world
  • take on social role of moral teacher
  • need to convince others of “rightness.”

5: interpersonal control
  • manipulate and control others by correcting them
  • angry (shadow) when world is not arranged according to their “should”
  • insists on being seen as reasonable and objective
  • attached to consistent order in inner and outer world.
judgmental perfectionist
6: overcompensation
  • perfectionist, opiniated, “right/wrong” thinking, impatient, fault-finding
  • want to criticize others for not meeting the one’s standards
  • undermine by angry criticism, treating others as if they are defective or bad.

  • inflexible, intolerant, and self-righteous
