self-reflection and contemplation
in this program we first explore the process of, and models for incorporating self-reflection into our daily practice. we then introduce contemplation, contemplative prayer and the three wisdom tools of Buddhism.
three marks of existence
in this program we look at the realities of impermanence, suffering, and no-self, learning that when we accept and work with these realities, life becomes deeper and more meaningful. in the same way that the death practices leave us more presently alive.
lojong intro and point 1: the preliminaries
in this program we get acquainted with what Buddhism calls lojong; or mind training. we learn about the origin of the practice and become familiar with point one, or the preliminaries.
lojong point 2: cultivating bodhicitta
having trained in the preliminaries, we are now ready to begin the main practice of bodhichitta or cultivating our capacity for compassion and wisdom.
lojong points 3, 4, and 5
we now come to the instructions or slogans of lojong practice. these slogans guide us to see reality more clearly and challenge our unconscious reactions that create suffering.
lojong points 6 and 7
in this program we examine lojong 6 - the slogans describing the general commitments we need to make in order to further our spiritual growth - and lojong 7 - the slogans outlining guidelines for mind training to progress in our practice.
